materially aware models
Paul has received funding for 2 years postdoctoral research, to pursue the idea of ‘materially aware’ digital models.
The research, titled ‘Materialising design, Designing material: considering material possibilities within digital architectural representation’, considers the relationship between material behaviour and architectural representation. By exploring the capacity for digital 3D architectural models to encode and deploy intrinsic material tendencies and capacities within the design of composite materials and structures, the research aims to establish the idea of the ‘materially aware’ model and to extend the notion of material practice. The research will be located at CITA, CPH, and outcomes will include an exhibition and book publication in 2012.
